The Tenderloin Economic Development Project is a program
of the North of Market Neighborhood Improvement Corporation. Here is what we do.
The Tenderloin is becoming a recognized destination
in San Francisco once again, a positive trend we wish to build upon. We work with community
organizations, businesses and city agencies to strengthen the Tenderloin as a destination for arts, culture and
ethnic restaurants.
- We will build upon the numerous existing
positive community art and culture assets: the EXIT Theatre; the Luggage Store Gallery; American Conservatory Theater;
the Warfield Theatre; Alonzo King Lines Ballet; the Golden Gate Theatre; and other community art institutions.
- We will collaborate with local, accomplished nonprofit housing developers to lease vacant commercial
space with community-serving retail and programming.
- We will combat drug dealing by investing in neighborhood improvements to encourage
positive foot traffic and commerce.
Mission Statement
Help transform the Tenderloin
into a vibrant and livable neighborhood for its low-income residents through economic, social, cultural, educational and safety
initiatives.
